Virginia’s Main Street Upgrade
We’re excited to announce that the highly anticipated upgrade to Virginia’s Main Street is now complete, and it’s looking better than ever!
This transformation brings a fresh new feel to our bustling township, creating a warm and welcoming space for locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re strolling through with family, cycling, or stopping by for a coffee, Virginia’s revitalised Main Street is now the perfect spot to connect with the community and enjoy the town’s charm.
Here’s what you can expect from the upgrade:
A New Look and Feel
Power lines have been tucked away underground, giving the street a clean, open feel. Pedestrian and cycling paths have been widened, making it easier and safer to explore the area on foot or bike.
Beautiful New Gardens
With freshly planted trees and vibrant new gardens, the street is filled with greenery and natural beauty. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy some fresh air, take a leisurely walk, or simply relax and soak in the atmosphere.
On-Street Parking
Convenient on-street parking makes it easier for visitors and locals to pop by for a visit, whether you’re grabbing lunch or running errands.
A Playground for the Kids
The new playground at Virginia Institute Park is already a hit with the little ones! It’s the ideal spot for families to gather, with plenty of space for kids to play while parents enjoy the park’s upgraded surroundings.
But what makes this transformation extra special is the fact that it was shaped by our own community. More than 460 locals took part in the community engagement process, helping to guide the design and features of the new Main Street. Your feedback was instrumental in making this project a true reflection of Virginia’s spirit.
This revitalisation wouldn’t have been possible without the fantastic work from the City of Playford, the South Australian Government’s Places for People grant, an Australian Government Roads to Recovery grant, and SA Power Networks.
