Our Central Lake has been open for a little while now, and it’s already become a much-loved part of the Virginia Grove community. But have you ever wondered just how much work went into bringing this beautiful space to life? We’re excited to finally share a timelapse video capturing the incredible transformation of our lake precinct!
From an empty construction site to a lush, vibrant oasis, this timelapse highlights the hard work and dedication that went into making this vision a reality.
Fun Facts About the Lake Construction
- Around 10,000m³ of dirt was moved to create the lake’s foundation.
- Approximately 11,000m² of liner was laid to ensure the lake holds water.
- 1,400 lineal metres of subsoil drains were installed to manage water flow and sustainability.
- 136 trees and almost 11,000 plants were planted, creating a green and inviting space.
- 6,000m² of turf and 3,500m² of garden beds were established to enhance the landscape.
- The area features 2,000m² of paths, making it a perfect spot for a scenic stroll or bike ride.
The lake has already become a favourite place for residents to relax, explore, and connect with nature. Whether you’re enjoying a picnic, going for a walk, or simply soaking in the view, this space was designed for you.
