Welcome to Our Central Lakes Precinct at Virginia Grove!
Exciting news for the Virginia community—the fences are finally down at our brand-new Central Lakes precinct at Virginia Grove! This beautifully designed space has been created for everyone to enjoy, offering a scenic, relaxing, and active environment right in the heart of Virginia.
This new precinct joins our existing Central Reserve and play spaces, which already include fantastic community amenities such as:
- A skate park
- A basketball half-key
- A pump track
- A flying fox
- Nature play areas
- An outdoor fitness hub
And now, with the completion of our Central Lake, we’re introducing even more reasons to get outdoors and enjoy this incredible community space. Designed in collaboration with leading landscape architects Wax Design, and built by our landscaping contractor Green Inc, this precinct brings together thoughtful design, sustainability, and beautiful landscaping to create a true destination for locals and visitors alike.
What Makes Our Central Lake Special?
Scenic Seating Nodes
The lake’s perimeter features destination seating nodes, defined by contrasting paving materials and bespoke outdoor furniture designed in collaboration with Streetlife Australia. We’re proud to introduce South Australia’s first installation of Rough&Ready Curved Benches, crafted from Accoya high-performance modified timber—a durable and low-maintenance material chosen for its longevity and sustainability. These seating areas offer the perfect place to sit, relax, and take in the serene lake views.
Palm Avenue – A Grand Entrance
The precinct is framed by an avenue of stunning Mexican fan palms (Washingtonia robusta), which creates a striking visual feature and naturally draws visitors into the space. The advanced palms add a dramatic sense of scale, complementing the surrounding lawns and framing the looped access pathway, ensuring a seamless experience for both pedestrians and cyclists.
Elevated Mound – A New Perspective
One of the most unique features of Central Lakes is the elevated mound in the north-east corner of the reserve. Given Virginia’s typically flat terrain, this raised area offers a fresh viewing point across the lake and surrounding reserve. Designed with accessibility in mind, the mound includes:
- Meandering DDA-compliant pathways
- Bench seating and resting nodes
- Complementary planting and shaded areas
This thoughtful addition ensures an inclusive experience for all visitors, offering a peaceful retreat with beautiful views.
Looped Access Pathway – Designed for Everyone
At the heart of the design is a looped accessibility pathway that allows visitors to fully experience the beauty of Central Lakes. This DDA-compliant pathway ensures that everyone—regardless of mobility—can enjoy a seamless journey around the lake. Meandering quarry fines and exposed aggregate concrete paths lead visitors through the reserve, with seating nodes thoughtfully placed along the way to encourage rest and relaxation.
A New Community Destination
With the fences now down, Central Lakes is officially open for the Virginia community to enjoy! Whether you’re looking for a peaceful spot to unwind, a scenic walking path, or a space to connect with family and friends, this new precinct offers something for everyone.
We can’t wait to see you enjoying this stunning new space—see you at Central Lakes!
